My God is too small?
During the Enlightenment, the scientists and philosophers thought of God as the great Designer, one who created the laws of physics and over the eons the earth developed and life evolved. It is a Deist God who does not involve themselves in the daily dealings of humans. As a one who lives in the contemporary world I have been influenced by this image. One of God who is removed and distant. I toggle between this God and a personal God who knows and loves me individually. The impact on me is that deist God is too small to be concerned with the matters of humans. Perhaps my mind cannot imagine a God who is concerned with each and every one of us in a personal way. Maybe how God does that is not for me to know. I just need to know that God loves and knows me personally, and wants to be close to me.
