Hollow men
The title of the project refers to the 1925 poem of the same name by T. S. Eliot, in which the “hollow men” are inert entities , suspended in a limbo between life and death, incapable of acting or redeeming themselves after the trauma of war. In Giulia Cenci’s figures, this condition becomes a metaphor for the fragility and contradictions of the human condition in today’s world–caught between nature and artificiality, past and present(and the bleakness of the future), memory and oblivion.
