Monet: The Late Years
Monet: the Late Years.
The paintings are both representational and abstract, as if
Monet holds a place between the Impressionists and Modern art. It was a delight
to be among the paintings. The mastery of the medium is displayed in how wet
washes communicate movement or a dry brush stroke of paint signifies an image
of a flower, or vegetation. The pigment
in the center of the canvas is luminous as if producing its own light, while
the edges reveal primed canvases. The large canvases doesn’t have horizon so is
seems as if we are subsumed in the pond and garden. One comes out of the exhibit as if one has had
a visit to Monet’s garden in Giverny.
