Goodbye Sweaters

When I was traveling in Cuzco, I bought a bright colorful alpaca sweater. It turned out to be a blessing as the material is light, warm and somewhat waterproof. I am allergic to wool but was surprised that I didn’t react to alpaca.

I decided to wear it to school. By midmorning, I was miserably sneezing that I had to take an antihistamine, which caused me to be dopey for the rest of the day. The sad part of this is the realization that I cannot wear wool or alpaca, give me synthetic sweaters! And I have so many wool sweaters that I am resigned to give away—gifts., beautiful gifts, from family and friends. But what is the point of having them if I cannot wear them? Goodbye Sweaters.

Wedding Pix

My cousin EfraĆn got married on New Years' Eve. He and Y-Co had a photo booth at the reception. Who knew having a photo booth could be so fun.

Eating at McDonald's (again)
This morning everyone got up late. I can’t sleep in very well—it gives me a headache. It was a slow start getting out and being New Year’s Day nothing was open—only McDonald’s. The last time I ate at Micky-Dee's was outside Yellowstone, where there was nothing but McDonald's. Before that it must have been 20 years since I had eaten there.
My parents, grandmother, and nephews headed to the golden arches while I searched for something other than McDonald’s. Nothing. I could have gone back to the hotel where they had a Starbuck kiosk, but I had just come from there. I realized that my pride was growing greater than my integrity and I resigned myself to eating an Egg McMuffin. Sometimes the cost of foreswearing something off is greater than eating together as a family.

While this wasn’t how I had planned to celebrate my birthday, it was better than what I had in mind.
