“The camino, like all pilgrimages, begins the moment you step out your front door.”
I have anticipation and anxiety as I start this pilgrimage. I wanted to walk this pilgrimage when I was on sabbatical in 2020-21 but because of Covid it was not possible. Now that I am retired, this pilgrimage is a good bookend to my educational career and the start to how I might live my life “en mi tercera edad.” What a gift I have been given to make this journey. There is anticipation to that.
There is also anxiety. I am not sure how an e-SIM card works. Last year while in Mexico city with Robert & Paloma, my wallet was stolen. Now I will be traveling solo. I hear rumors that Barcelona is overrun with tourists and are not welcomed here. And I still have not been able to book the bus to St. Jean Pied de Port. All will be well.
